Non Technical Summary
There is a nationwideshortage of food animal veterinarians in the United States. This shortage endangers the livelyhood of our producers, the local and national economy and the food we eat. This is particularly dangerous given the ever increasing spread of foreign animal diseases that could stop our food producing economy and endanger the animal welfare of millions of food producing animals. By fundingthe start upof a complete mobile veterinary services we can keep costs down and better meet our clients needs in the pasture and increase security of our food sources. Ourgoal for these funds at Crescent Veterinary Hospital are to establish a complete mobile veterinary service with the purchase of a service truck, veterinary clinic box and mobile chute. With this new equipment,we will increase our mobile practice over the 3 year grant period 10 fold and continue utilizing this equipement for the next decade and possibly beyond. This will result in a more secure food chain, increased animal welfare and a more secure local and national agricultural economy.

Goals / Objectives
The primary goal of our project is to establish an ambulatory service atCrescent Veterinary Hospital, to serve the shortage area OK243, by purchasing a work truck, veterinary clinic box as well as a portable chute to better serve the needs of our rural shortagearea, thus enhancing food animal wellfare, disease surveilance, protect food safety and the local agricultural economy in our shortage area.
Project Methods
Funds will be used to purchase a full size work truck and a veterinary clinic box to allow quick deployment of clinic resources to address routine and emergent veterinary needs of the shortage area OK243. Additionally, funds will be used to purchase a mobile hydraulic chute to further enhance our ability to treat animals for illness and routine needs in the field. Having equipment stocked and ready to go will allow for increased ambulatory calls by reducingprep time for deployment. This increased availability will naturally increase our ambulatory calls through word of mouth. Additional efforts will be made to identify and recruit producers for ambultory herd health wellness. Community outreach through online advertising and local events will be usedto notify current and future clients of our new ambulatory service.

Outputs
Target Audience:Crescent Veterinary Hospital has continued to discuss our expanded services to our clientssince acquisition of our work truck and veterinary clinic box and communicated to them that we can be available for additional farm calls and for more emergent cases with our new equipment. This has continued to provided some additional clients through word of mouth as well. Additionally, we continue to reach out through social media to communicate our developments as they become available and rent a billboard at a nearby busy intersection. Our clients are made up of large and small producers, hobby farmers, as well as, show animals. Changes/Problems:Our biggest challenge will be to continue deployment of our mobile chute on a larger scale and continue to grow the business to increase our newly acquired part time veterinary associate to become full time. What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? The equpiment has allowed our clinic to reach additional clientele, allowing Dr. Sisk to continue to grow professionally. We have treated numerous scheduled calls and several emergency calls, traveling from home, that we would not have been able to perform otherwise. The truck has been used to transport Dr. Sisk to local and distant large animal CE as well as training a new assistant with farm calls and allowing pre-veterinary students at Oklahoma State University ride along/shadow. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? To Date, primarily word of mouth on social media and word of mouth with our large animal clientele has been used to comunicate our presents to our community. We do rent a billboard at a local busy intersection located along routes to Guthrie, Cashion and Edmond/Oklahoma City from Cresecent. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? We expect to enter our work truck in local parade as a advertising opportunity as well as purchase vinyl decals for the truck for additional advertising.

Impacts
What was accomplished under these goals? Crescent Veterinary Hospital has completed all purchasing funded under the grant. Our work truck, 2024 Chevrolete 2500HD, purchase was completed August 23rd. We had originally ordered the same truck with an expected delivery date in October, but we were able to accelerated this and take delivery of a comparable unit, with mild hail damage at a significant savings, which was put toward a reproscan portable ultrasound unit for our ambulatory work. We ordered our Bowie Clinic Veterinary Box August 26th and took delivery October 18th. Our portable chute was delivered March 2025. The truck, Clinic Box and Portable Ultrasound Unit have beenin use since October 18th. Stocking the truck with additional equipment continues as new items are identified, while general supplies are completely in place. In the period August 2023 through July 2024, preceding acquisition of the new equipment for Crescent Veterinary Hospital we performed59 farm. In the time period of August 2024 through July 2025 our practice software documents 102 such calls. Equipment was not fully in place until October 2024. While call nearly doubled, this is a service that would be challenging to even continue with the loss of our prior work truck due to mechanical failure mid 2024.
