REEport is NIFA’s new grant and formula project initiation and reporting system, building on and replacing the CRIS web forms system. It implements the Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR), a standard progress report format that all Federal research agencies are required to use for research grant reporting.
REEport evolved from the recommendations that were made in the One Solution initiative business case.
The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) created the Leadership Management Dashboard (LMD) to provide State Partners, Agency Executives, National Program Leaders, Program Specialists, and Program Assistants at NIFA with actionable business information in a format that is both intuitive and insightful.
Sources for current and historical data in LMD include:
NIFA’s Priority Science Areas include:
GLOBAL FOOD SECURITY AND HUNGER
NIFA supports new science to boost U.S. agricultural
production, improve global capacity to meet the growing food demand, and foster innovation
in fighting hunger by addressing food security for vulnerable
populations.
CLIMATE CHANGE
NIFA-funded projects generate knowledge to develop an agriculture system
that maintains high productivity in the face of climate changes. This will help producers
plan for and make decisions to adapt to changing environments,
sustain economic vitality, and take advantage of emerging economic opportunities offered by
climate change mitigation technologies.
SUSTAINABLE ENERGY
NIFA contributes to President Obama’s goal of energy independence
with a portfolio of grant programs to develop biomass used for biofuels, design optimum
forestry and crops for bioenergy production, and produce value-added
bio-based industrial products.
CHILDHOOD OBESITY
NIFA-supported programs ensure that nutritious foods are affordable
and available and provide guidance so that individuals and families are able to make
informed, science-based decisions about their health and well-being.
FOOD SAFETY
NIFA food safety programs work to reduce the incidence of food-borne illness
and provide a safer food supply by addressing the causes of microbial contamination and
antimicrobial resistance, educating consumer and food safety
professionals, and developing food processing technologies.
The Plan of Work (POW) data collection, including the Annual Report of Accomplishments, is the vehicle for Land Grant Universities to report planned Agriculture Research and Extension programs and annual program results. The Plan of Work is mandated by the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998.
The Plan of Work must be completed by eligible institutions receiving Federal agricultural research and extension formula funds under the Hatch Act of 1887, as amended (7 U.S.C. 361a et seq.); sections 3(b)(1) and (c) of the Smith-Lever Act of 1914, as amended (7 U.S.C. 343 (b)(1) and (c)); and sections 1444 and 1445 of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977, as amended (7 U.S.C. 3221 and 3222).
The Research, Education, and Economics Information System (REEIS) is a source of information on the research, education and extension programs, projects and activities of the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its partner institutions in the following areas: Food, Agriculture, and Natural resources.
CRIS is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's documentation and reporting system for ongoing and recently completed research and education projects in agriculture, food and nutrition, and forestry. Projects are conducted or sponsored by USDA research agencies, state agricultural experiment stations, land-grant universities, other cooperating state institutions, and participants in NIFA-administered grant programs, including Small Business Innovation Research and National Research Initiative, and the programs administered by the NIFA Science and Education Resources Development unit. CRIS is an application of the NIFA Information Systems and Technology Management unit.
The Peer Review System (PRS) allows reviewers and potential reviewers to update personal information and to complete and submit reviews online.
