This project covers agricultural and biomedical research funded by sources other than USDA that contributes to total research capacity of the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine. We are developing strategic alliances with partner institutions and the private sector and growing the supporting infrastructure. Consequently, publications are presented as evidence of progress and productivity. Expenditures for these non-USDA projects come from Federal, State and private funding sources, including biological and pharmaceutical corporations.

Goals / Objectives
To coordinate the conduct and reporting of short-term "seed" grants awarded to veterinary investigators to explore novelapproaches to the health problems of livestock. It is intended that the results of these small, short-term grants will lead to moreextensive research in areas that require preliminary data to justify highly creative approaches to animal health and disease.
Project Methods
Studies include comparative translational models in infectious disease and immunology, vector-borne disease, toxicology, aging, exercise, and public health, focusing on diagnostics, vaccines, and therapeutics.
