Our programs also include direct service, supervisory, and training professionals from the military child youth services and child youth programs staffs globally. Changes/Problems:With a full-time project director in place, we anticipate moving ahead rapidly with planning and implementation of multiple project activities. Exhibits and educational booths are hosted at Extension conferences where workshops are also included as often as possible. Websites and social media are also utilized. The CYFAR-4-HPDTA project hosts a FaceBook group with 215 followersand147 active members. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? The CYFAR-4-HPDTA team continues efforts to provide virtual and in-person training events and activities in support of those who work with military-connected audiences. Additional regional training events are in the planning stages and identifying opportunities for those who are completing the 4-H MPLA program are interested in serving in leadership roles so efforts are underway to provide options for those individuals to step in where appropriate to further our reach. Additionally, recruitment will begin in August for Cohort #2 of the 4-H MLPA and a continuation plan for advanced leadership training for Cohort #1 is being developed. Our full-time project manager is working to increase our web resources and to increase our reach with web and social media activity.
Impacts What was accomplished under these goals?
1) Training events and activities via virtual classrooms included monthly seminars/sessions with more than 300 individuals participating, and the creation of recorded content posted on the website available for continuous access. 2) Sustained efforts of the 4-H Military Partnership Working Group, a chartered working group of the National 4-H Program Leaders Working Group, ensured regional input in planning activities for national events, assistance in topic selection for monthly seminars, and guidance relevant to meeting the needs of local Extension faculty working with military-connected audiences. 3) Cohort #1 of the 4-H Military Partnership Leadership Academy was selected and participated in sessions that included Personify Leadership training, Real Colors certification training, reading more than a dozen leadership publications, presentations from leadership experts, site visits to military installations, and other experiential activities to foster and enhance leadership abilities. These 16 individuals will assist in program evaluation and will help inform the selection and implementation of the curriculum for future cohorts for the 4-H MPLA. Individuals are completing projects to build capacity and increase support for working with military-connected audiences and will be sharing these new resources in the coming year to help others in the network with their programming efforts. 4) Provision of curriculum and resources, both print and online, to support efforts reaching military-connected youth. This includes 4-H specific curricula, NCSU Science House curriculum, Skillastics science of movement resources, and GooseChase, an online scavenger hunt software subscription among others.
