What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided?Data analyzedby ECAH staff and presented to area producers has encouraged increased adoption and utilization of the technology. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest?Community and private meetings presenting local data and guest professional speakers validating the procedures and benefits. The data has been presented at many meetings including the Oklahoma State University Extension's Rancher Lunchtime Series and the Oklahoma State University's Integrated Beef Cattle Program. The data was also used in a presentation at the 580 Cattle Conference in Woodward, OK. The conference had around 200 area producers and ECAH had a booth promoting the new technology. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals?
Nothing Reported
Impacts What was accomplished under these goals?

What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided?10/17/2023: ECAH staff and ST Genetics Rep Luke Bradford met with producers and discussed benefits of artificial insemination. Michael Adams presented the analysis of the prior year and current year data from the respective herds. Dr.Richard Prather presented the economic analysis for sustainability. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest?Indivdual consultations with each of the participating producers occur annually and group meetings described in the above are also accomplished annually. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals?Continue with the individual consultations and group meetings.
Impacts What was accomplished under these goals?
14 new artificial insemination clients were added through client education and use of the new equipment More bulls were evaluated at the ranch allowing for less animal stress and risk in handling Removing bulls through testing and removal of animals with lesser fertility, clients were able to increase revenue through earlier calving offspring and heavier weight for market Early conception & higher pregnancy rate A.I. (Artificial Insemination) total head utilizing technology: 2,133 Total mileage covered with equipment: 3,286 Benchmarked herd to herd & prior year to current year Total miles traveled with equipment Total bulls on farm for breeding soundness evaluation: 141 Enhanced use of Pregnancy Exams on farm by Veterinarian: 2,370

Progress 09/01/21 to 08/31/22
Outputs Target Audience:Cow-calf producers in Northwest Oklahoma and Eastern Texas Panhandle. Changes/Problems:ECAH was unable to purchase the portable corral due to the increase cost of building materials. ECAH was able to purchase a new Ultra high-frequency tag reading software to increase the tracibility of the individual animals. What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided?WIth the implementation of the new equipment, low-stress cattle handling could be introduced and taught to producers and their employees. Achieving the higher pregnancy rates also reiterated the necessity for low-stress handling techniques. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? The process using the new equipment and correct handlingwas introduced to 5 new producers. The 2022 data collected in the new equipment from existing producers was also presented to the new producers. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? We intend to do the same process as we did this year. We will introduce new producers to the process and keep informing existing producers about the results from the data collected during the year.
Impacts What was accomplished under these goals?
The portable chute and alley allowed ECAH to test bulls and preg check cows at the clients' locations. This saved the producer time, labor, and fuel transporting the animals to ECAH. This also reduced stress in the animals. The mobile breeding trailer allowed for low-stress handling of cows being artificially inseminated. This resulted in higher pregnancy rates than those associated with a traditional chute. With the higher conception rates, the producer was able to wean a more uniformed set of calves, which brought a higher premium at sale time.
