Non Technical Summary
Extraction of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) is an integral component of research involving nucleic acid analysis including but not limited to PCR. This piece of equipment will allow faculty to assess small quantities of DNA or RNA extractions (thus saving the majority of the extraction for research/down stream purposes) to ensure that we are producing high quality work.

Goals / Objectives
The goal of this project is to obtain a nanodrop nucleic acid qualification and quantification system for use by all Vet Med faculty working with agriculture and food-producing animals. This piece of equipment will improve research efforts within the college by completing an encompassing laboratory set up for DNA and RNA extaction, quantification/qualification and PCR that is available for use by faculty within the veterinary college.
Project Methods
This piece of equipment is versitile and will be used by numerous laboratory groups for a wide variety of diverse projects.
