Non Technical Summary
ProcellaCOR EC is a selective herbicide for slow-moving water, used to target invasive aquatic weeds such as milfoil. Cazenovia Lake Association would like to apply this herbicide to Cazenovia Lake in Madison County, New York State. The Chittenango ovate amber snail Novisuccinea chittenangoensis (COAS) is a threatened land snail species that exists in a habitat that is closely associated with Cazenovia Lake, specifically Chittenango Falls. The purpose of this study is to test the effects of the herbicide in a laboratory setting on a surrogate land snail species, Succinea putris, a species that coexists locally with COAS. Results will allow the Cazenovia Lake Association and stakeholders to assess the relative risk of applying the herbicide to Cazenovia Lake.Awarded Start Date: 8/1/2020Sponsor: Cazenovia Lake Association
