This project will acquiretechnology and infrastructure for distance learning programs in agricultural economics, agribusiness, and food science & technology. In recent years, NIFA has supported UPR-M projects to create three new online master's degree programs: Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Food Science and Technology. It is important to note, that the new online master's degree in Agricultural Economics is expected to be the first online degree of the University of Puerto Rico.In the ongoing process of developing these new online master's degrees, we realized that the current infrastructure is not sufficient to meet the institutional requirements of course work and the development of new online projects, such as a new online master's degree in food science and technology. These master's degrees in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness alone, will require the creation and revision of at least 30 online courses. At present, the UPR-M has only one recording studio for all the online courses of the campus and our projects are competing with other online projects from other faculties.The objective of the proposed project is to acquire equipment to develop a new recording studiofor online teaching, a distance education classroom, new equipment for off-campus recordingand support to develop 6 online courses. This off-campus recording will gather experiences from real-life practice in agricultural economics, agribusiness, and food science and technology. Furthermore, this project will provide training to graduate students and faculty in recording, editing, and studio practices for online teaching.

Goals / Objectives
The goals of the proposed project is to acquire equipment to develop new recording studios for online teaching, a distance education classroom, new equipment for off-campus recording. This off-campus recording will gather experiences from real-life practice in agricultural economics, agribusiness, and food science and technology. Furthermore, this project will provide training to graduate students and faculty in recording, editing, and studio practices for online teaching.

Changes/Problems:During the life period of the project, we faced a pandemic from the year 2020 to 2022, earthquakes (2020), and Hurricane Fiona (2022) generating delays in the rehabilitation of facilities and the acquisition of the equipment. Furthermore, the remote work of most of the employees slowed down the utilization of studio facilities and outdoor recording. What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided?The project offered individual training on Online class recording, Camtasia, and video format and editing to the participant faculty. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest?The project was disseminated through an Online web page: https://www.uprm.edu/studiob400/. What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided?About 10 faculty members of the CAS were assisted by Dr. Julio César Hernández. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest?The project uses email to inform faculty members about training opportunities. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? The project will finish with equipment acquisition and will provide additional training to the faculty.

What was accomplished under these goals? The project achieved the partial acquisition of equipment for the distance education classroom and for studios. The project also provideed training and technical assistance to the faculty of the CAS.

What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided?The project provided training to the professors of the CAS. On April 3 2020 1PM Dr. Julio César Hernández offered the workshop " Camtasia Basic Workshop" to the faculty of Agricultural Sciences where 200 were invited and 128 were present. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? Nothing Reported What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals?The project will finish with the equipment acquisition and will provide additional training to the faculty.
