Non Technical Summary
SUNY ESF will collaborate with DEC staff in conducting timber clearing preparations on State Forests. Specific tasks will be stand analysis, timber marking, infrastructure layout, volume calculations, GIS/GPS manipulation and mapping.Environment Conservation Law Section 9-0505 authorizes the removal of timber from State Forests. However, State Forest timber supplies are being harvested at less than half the rate at which they are growing. This under-utilization of available assets amounts to inefficient use of valuable resources for the DEC and the State.
