Non Technical Summary
A Research Conference Grant from the Animal Health and Production: Animal health program (A1221) is requested to support travel stipends for trainees (students, postdocs, and early-career scientists) for participation in the 12th International Veterinary Immunology Symposium (IVIS) to be held in Seattle, Washington, USA on August 13-16, 2019 (http://www.ivis2019.org). IVIS is a keystone event for veterinary immunologists worldwide and represents one of the only forums allowing the concentrated interaction of researchers focused on basic veterinary immunology, with representatives from industry, government and academia. Specialists in livestock and poultry immunology, and wildlife, aquaculture, and marine mammals, routinely attend IVIS. This year's scientific program will highlight the latest findings in innate and adaptive immunology, particularly in the field of viral, bacterial, and parasitic responses. Application of new concepts on interactions of immunity with reproduction, stress, and nutrition; and applications of modern immunological concepts towards the rational development of vaccines and adjuvants will be emphasized. Reagent development and availability for non-human, non-rodent species will also be discussed, including national and international efforts in this area. With the aid of USDA-NIFA-AFRI, the American Association of Veterinary Immunologists would like to provide ten travel awards to enable their participation in this key event. Participation will greatly enhance the knowledge, skills, and interactions of those selected, and will aid in their development as future leaders in animal health and disease. We also request support towards a session on reagent development and availability for animal species, particularly porcine, bovine, poultry, and aquaculture.

Project Methods
The award amount will be distributed to slected trainees based on the quality of abstract and the personal statment about their participation in the meeting

Progress 07/15/19 to 07/14/20

Outputs
Target Audience:Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and trainnes Changes/Problems: Nothing Reported What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? The trainees had the opportunity to network with manyinternational scientists who came from different parts of the world. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest?Through publication of the meeting details in a scientific journal. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? Nothing Reported

Impacts
What was accomplished under these goals? Both theMajor goals of the project listed above were accomplished. The IVIS committee selected seven trainees (5 from USA, 1 from Australia and 1 from United kingdom) based on the submitted abstract for oral and poster presentation. Each awardee received free registration to attend the IVIS conference and 1 night hotel charges. In addition, swine immune tool kit workshop was organized from this conference funds at this IVIS meeting. All the trainees presented their data in the conference and attended the workshop. This award sponsored activity and information was valuable to the awardees and also to the other scientists.
