Statistics
Non Technical Summary
Essentially all experiment station projects involve the collection and analysis of data. There are significant economic, societal, social, and environmental costs when inappropriate statistical methodology is used for interpreting and reporting scientific findings. The quality of this research is enhanced if state-of-the-art statistical methods are employed, or when the project involves novel forms of data collection, when new statistical methods developed from appropriate first principles can be developed and employed.

Goals / Objectives
Provide statistical consulting services to researchers in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (this includes the design and analysis of experiments). Participate as collaborators on major research projects in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (this also includes the design and analysis of experiments). Do basic research that will yield better research tools for scientists in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Project Methods
Efforts on this project will include consulting on the use of statistical methodology, and collaboration involving the modification of existing statistical methodology or development of new or better methodology as needed, to complement. Because our efforts will be part of, and in support of, open scientific research efforts, they will be evaluated in the usual peer review processes involved in the publishing of results.
