Non Technical Summary
The Cayuga County Department of Planning & Economic Development is proposing an eleven-week Summer Internship Program for SUNY ESF Bachelor of Landscape Architecture candidate for the 2017 summer season, from June through August. Although the work will primarily focus on the development and exploration of park projects and pending New York State Grant applications for Emerson Park, the County's premier lakefront park, the department is actively engaged in a broad range of research, planning and development projects that will provide ample opportunities for active involvement in County Planning and practical exposure to the daily work of a County Planning Department .The Cayuga County Department of Planning & ED has a staff of 8. 5 professionals, including Planners, Environmental Engineers, GIS Specialists, Community & Economic Development Specialists and seasoned administrative professionals. The staff brings a range and diversity of skills to the department, working individually and collectively on programs and projects, encouraging comprehensive planning and recommending policy that integrates land use, infrastructure development and resource management. We offer a rich and supportive environment for a productive and engaged summer internship.Mr. Wilcox will be under the direct supervision of AICP, the department's Director and an ESF Alumni (MLA '93). AICP has been actively engaged in City and Regional Planning for twenty-four years, including seventeen years as a director of Planning Offices at the city and county levels.
