Non Technical Summary
This project establishes an Administration Project in The Kentucky State University (KSU) Land Grant Program (LGP) that will provide the necessary administrative and fiscal support to principal investigators and LGP administrators to promote and improve the overall research productivity and accountability in the LGP. Working in tandem with NIFA, the KSU Research and Administrative Team will provide coordination, guidance, support, and updates that will prevent non-compliance with NIFA regulations and avoid unnecessary pitfalls.

Goals / Objectives
To provide planning, direction, support, and effective administration of the research program supported by section 1445. The Land Grant Program is committed to excellence in research to meet the needs of a diverse population. The objectives of this project are: 1) to promote faculty, staff, and student research productivity through innovative research approaches that address stakeholder needs in both rural and urban settings, and 2) to enhance our research support and administrative efficiency in planning and implementing of Evans Allen funds to ensure compliance with NIFA regulations.
Project Methods
The KSU Land Grant Program's research efforts address agricultural, environmental, nutritional, and health concernsof Kentuckians through approved Evans Allen projects. To achieve the project goals, the LGP Project Administration Team will provide administrative and related services, support, and guidance to faculty to enable them to perform their duties and responsibilities more efficiently and effectively. Relevant and essential information and updates will be provided to NIFA, university administrators, and principal investigators to enable them to be in compliance with USDA NIFA regulations and project objectives. Training seminars and workshops will improve the productivity and proficiency in research for principal investigators, staff, and students. We will provide oversight for the utilization of all funds, equipment approvals, and reporting through the REEport system.

Outputs
Target Audience:Our target audience includes small-scale and limited-resource farmers, organic farmers in Kentucky and the southeastern United States, as well as KSU faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students, and other research and Extension professionals conducting research and seeking education and training in scientific principles and methods. Changes/Problems: Nothing Reported What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? Two Land Grant Program meetings were held with all personnel to discuss research granting topics and other research oriented issues. Twelve faculty, staff, and students attended the Aquaculture America 2020 Conference. Additionally, students, staff, and faculty were provided travel support to attend and present at virtual research conferences. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest?Prior to March 2020, Third Thursday Sustainable Agriculture Workshops were held at the KSU Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration farm monthly to present results of research projects to stakeholders. After March 2020, these workshops were held virtually. Stakeholders attending all of these functions at all of these locations gained from the research support provided to KSU research students, staff, and faculty through this Evans Allen Project. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? We will continue to provide support for the Evans Allen research projects in the Kentucky State University Land Grant Program.

Impacts
What was accomplished under these goals? Funds were used for administrative positions, such as a grants manager, an accountant, HR personnel, administrative assistants, farm and facility managers, a Fiscal and Compliance Officer, an Assistant Research Director, and other administrative positions that support Land Grant Program research efforts, project objectives, administrative efficiency in planning and implementing of Evans Allen funds, and to ensure compliance with NIFA regulations.
