Non Technical Summary
The purpose of these technical services with SUNY ESF is to address the significant back log associated with land acquisitions and management planning for newly acquired land. Under the Environmental Protection Fund, technical services are authorized for the purpose of completing approved land acquisition projects and developing management plans where no such management plan has been developed. DEC's Real Property Bureau has been authorized to spend about $355 million in Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) resources during the past twenty years to acquire about 618,000 acres of fee and easements. Coupled with funds available from previous Bond Acts, the Bureau has secured the permanent protection of more than a millionacres of fee and easements during this time frame-on thousands of parcels-in every region of the state.
