Non Technical Summary
Valuation of ecosystem goods and services provides essential inputs to decisionmaking that attempts to balance sustainable economic growth, environmental quality, and natural resource use and conservation to support avariety of (sometimes conflicting) societal needs. The water resources in Florida are increasingly facing the pressures from population growth, urban development, and threats from climate change. Given the diversity of land-use types and stakeholder interests, desining an effective water resource management policy framework to satisfy a suite of societal needs precipitated a call for valuation and comparison of services. This project will focus on several key types of water resources in Florida that are facing those threats. For example, the natural springs and the river systems. To valuate the many ecosystem services provided by water resources and to evaluate tradeoffs between those services, we will use economic valuation methods and collect primary survey data accomopolish our goals. Particuarly, data from various users of the water resources (i.e., farmers and local residents) will be collected.
