To provide veterinary students with hands-on spay/neuter surgical training, we will acquire, equip, and wrap a truck and large trailer for use as amobile spay/neuter unit. Students will perform more surgeries than is currently being conducted. The estimated number of students participating in the rotation for the first year after the mobile unit is operational is 48. Approximately 40 surgeries per student for a total of 1,920 surgeries in year one, with approximately 10% of the surgeries on pediatric (<5 mo.) cats and dogs.PetSmart Charities, $260,485, 1/23/14 to 7/22/15

Project Methods
We will acquire, equip, and wrap a truck and large trailer for use as a mobile veterinary spay/neuter clinic. The unit will contain medical equipment and furnishings to provide hands-on spay/neuter surgical training for veterinary students, including surgeries on unowned pets < 5 mo. of age. The program will expand the number of students and surgeries per student currently conducted. The estimated number of students participating in the first rotation during the first year after the mobile unit is operational is 48, with approximately 40 surgeries per student for a total of 1,920 surgeries in year one.
