Non Technical Summary
The CRIS Forms Assistance web site will continue to host the Program of Research and AD-419 funding reports until REEport takes over those functions. The data will be kept updated and all output reports and export capabilities maintained until no longer needed. A decommissioning plan will be developed and carried out when appropriate. Support for using REEport and enterprise search will be provided for the state partner institutions. This activity will be tracked and reported periodiclly to NIFA. System update and security measures that meet industry standards continue to be needed to assure CRIS and web forms users that the system is secure and able to recover rapidly from any identifiable problem.

Goals / Objectives
The objective is to continue to host the Program of Research and AD-419 funding reports until REEport takes over those functions. The data from CRIS will be kept updated and all output reports and export capabilities maintained until available in REEport. A decommissioning plan will be developed and carried out when appropriate. Support for using REEport and enterprise search will be provided for the state partner institutions. System update and security measures that meet industry standards will continue to be carried out.
Project Methods
Continue to host, modify as needed, maintain, and support the CRIS Web Forms system for NIFA grantees to submit Program of Research and AD-419 forms to CRIS using the Web until REEport takes over these functions.Continue to provide all data views and reports for state partners in the CRIS forms assistance site, as well as data download ability.Provide user support to state partner institutions as needed in the transition from CRIS web forms to REEport and enterprise search. Document support requests and problems/suggestions regarding REEport functions.Maintain documents that describe the web forms system as it is currently deployed, including hardware and software requirements for hosting and maintaining it, system security measures, and disaster recovery plan.Attend the 2015 Administrative Officers' Conference to interact with NIFA staff and site contacts from the US and territories.Modify program modules as needed for policy changes or as needed to transition to REEport, in accordance with the deployment and decommissioning plans.Assist with REEport design and development decisions as needed, providing insight about past processes and policies when needed.Provide testing as modules and new version releases of REEport are ready for review (functionality, usability and cross-browser testing).Interface with site contacts at state partner institutions to help with using REEport.Develop a decommissioning plan to be carried out after the application hosted in Vermont is no longer needed.

Outputs
Target Audience:REEport Site Administrators at Land Grant institutions needing assistance with transition to REEport, independent grantees not yet familiar with REEport, and the REEport development team. Changes/Problems:We requested a no-cost exension for the purpose of responsibily closing out this long-running project which had been actively hosting the primary reporting system for CSRS, then CSREES, then NIFA over the past 25 years. The PD role was reduced to 10% as professional staff carried out the required disposition of equipment, records, backups, manuals, and various other materials and supplies accumulated over 25 years. The work has been completed as described. What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? Nothing Reported How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? The web site was taken down but we hosted redirection instructions until July, 2015. Email was sent to all CRIS site contacts that had been using the system announcing the end of service. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? Nothing Reported

Impacts
What was accomplished under these goals? The CRIS Forms Assistance web application which concluded with this award, has a 25 year history. It began in 1989 as an optional standalone PC application, progressed to a network version, then a web based version in 1995, and soon became the required reporting mechanism for SAESs. The system was expanded to include competitive grants, forest service reporting, and Extension project reporting. We provided design and development, secure hosting, and user support. The application was replaced by REEport in stages over the period of this award. During the final year we assisted Site Administrators with their transition to REEport as well as independent grantees who had previously contacted us for support. We developed a decommissioning plan for the web application, data archival procedures, and equipment disposition. We tested new modules and documentation for the REEport development team and reported errors. We also summarized in a document for the REEport development team, what we had found to be the most important issues not yet addresssed in REEport, provided clear explanation of why the issues were important, and made suggestions for solving them. We continued to support transition to REEport as Site Administrators encountered questions and problems. We provided data to sites needing a format not provided in REEport or Enterprise Search, and continued this work during the no-cost extension period. During that time, the decommissioning plan was carried out with disposition of all equipment according to University requirements. Archival procedures were put in place for the requisite 3-year period.

    Impacts
What was accomplished under these goals? The CRIS Forms Assistance web application was replaced by REEport in stages over the past 2 years, the financial module being finally deployed in October, 2014, and the search and output functions added March, 2015. Our application was disabled at that time and we hosted an informational message until June 30, 2015. During the year we assisted Site Administrators with their transition to REEport as well as independent grantees who had previously contacted us for support. We developed a decommissioning plan for the web application, data archival procedures, and equipment disposition. Explanation and screen shots of all the CRIS web forms output reports were provided to the REEport development team when requested in December. We tested the new module and reported errors. We also summarized in a document what we had found to be the most important issues not yet addresssed in REEport, provided clear explanation of why the issues were important and made suggestions for solving them. We continue to support transition to REEport as Site Administrators encounter questions and problems.
