Goals / Objectives
The objective of this work will be to: 1) work with Food for Health of People and the Environment Laboratory (FHPEL) to develop a page on USDA's FoodData Central (FDC) for users to download the Food and Nutrition Service's (FNS) Child Nutrition Database (CNDB); 2) Provide users access to the CNDB through the FoodData Central API; 3) suggest and provide updates to the FDC data structure needed to automate the production of downloadable CNDB files; 4) Automate the generation of CNDB downloadable files; and 5) Validate generated CNDB downloadable files and API calls against the available data in FoodData Central database and assess usage of the page and related websites.
Project Methods
Together with the Food for Health of People and the Environment Lab (FHPEL), the Cooperator will oversee the work involved with the development of Child Nutrition Database (CNDB) page and associated requirements within FoodData Central (FDC). The cooperator will ensure the development, testing, installation, and configuration requirements for deployment. In addition, the Cooperator will work with members of the National Agricultural Library to deploy the project, ensuring the project meets 508 compliance and security testing standards. FHPEL assumes responsibility for USDA FoodData Central and will monitor its usage and investigate future needs for intraoperability and linkability to USDA databases.
