Goals / Objectives
Evaluate the potential to use nanobubbles to treat wash water from cut lettuce packaging facilities.
Project Methods
We will evaluate the impact of nano bubbles (NB) gas type (ozone vs air), pH, carbonate, calcium and temperature on washing lettuce with NBs and the subsequent filterability of the washed water. We will employ a membrane-based NB generator. The system has a special ozone resistant membrane that allows generating ozone nanobubbles in addition to oxygen, air, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen.
