Goals / Objectives
The Wheat Productivity Enhancement Project (WPEP) aims to enhance and protect the productivity of wheat by supporting research that leads to the identification and adoption of new, high-yielding, disease-resistant wheat varieties in all heatgrowing regions in Pakistan.
Project Methods
USDA has partnered with the International Center for Maize and Wheat Improvement (CIMMYT), U.S. Land-Grant Universities, and 11 Pakistani Partner Institutions at 17 locations across Pakistan to test and distribute to farmers new highyielding, rust-resistant wheat varieties.
