Goals / Objectives
Trace the formation of fluoride residues throughout tree nut production and marketing channels.
Project Methods
Utilize a cooperative effort between the USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Dried Fruit and Nut Association of California (DFA), California industry and foreign counterparts to address sulfuryl fluoride and fluoride residues on dried fruit and tree nut exports to the European Union. Elements of this USDA-Foreign Agricultural Service Technical Assistance for Specialty Crops activity will be conducted in phases and this work represents phase 1, year 1: the development of methods for residue analysis, with the DFA cooperator focused on capillary electrophoresis.
