Goals / Objectives
To determine the use of apples and hawthorns, tropical fruits, and different apple varieties by apple maggot fly populations in Washington state for purposes of reducing trade barriers to export markets.
Project Methods
The approach is to conduct research to determine 1) use of tropical fruits by apple maggot flies in Washington; 2) use of peach and other fruits by apple maggot flies; 3) use of different varieties of apples grown in the western and eastern U.S. by apple maggot flies in the laboratory and field; and 4) efficacy of traps under low apple maggot densities in apple trees.
