Goals / Objectives
The objectives of this proposal are to determine the prevalence and spread of Botrytis cinerea across grape, strawberry and blueberry hosts, and to develop molecular diagnostic tools for the presence of fungicide resistance.
Project Methods
To meet the objectives we will 1) characterize isolates of Botrytis collected from major grape, blueberry, and strawberry growing regions of California for sensitivity to strobilurin and demethylation inhibitors (DMI) fungicides 2) genetically characterize isolates to identify genomic regions associated with resistance, and 3) develop, and validate, a rapid and accurate diagnostic assay for strobilurin and DMI resistance in Botrytis field isolates.
