Goals / Objectives
The objective of this cooperative agreement is to promote scientific and academic cooperation between the USDA, Agricultural Research Service's research unit based at the Jornada Experimental Range (ARS) and BTR Marketing, LLC, based in Boulder, Colorado. Cooperation activities include the design, development, and testing of mobile and web-based computer applications for collecting and sharing knowledge and information about sustainable land management, and the network architecture, databases and web services necessary to support these applications.
Project Methods
Collaborative design and computer programming activities are integral components of current Jornada projects. Development of each system will begin with scoping and design prior to programming. The Jornada will contribute to the iterative testing of the programs (including apps) prior to release, and to their evaluation and continued improvement following release. All results of this collaboration will be publicly available. The majority of the collaboration will occur via phone and internet meetings, but we do anticipate periodic travel to Las Cruces.
