Goals / Objectives
Evaluate the relative efficacy of adjuvant/insecticide combinations to control navel orangeworm in pistachios.
Project Methods
Evaluate differences in adjuvant+insecticide combinations using a combination of water sensitive papers placed at 2 foot intervals on pvc pipes, combined with a second card containing a strip of navel orangeworm eggs and my new contact toxicity assay. In some experiments caged adults will also be used and eggs will be pinned in pistachio clusters for the bioassay. Combine these trials with additional experiments to quantify insecticide+adjuvant duration of control. All pistachios used to assess duration of control in studies will be collected when split and have either the kernel exposed or have cracks in the hull exposing the shell.
