Goals / Objectives
Develop an improved evidence base to support efforts to enhance food security and agricultural productivity in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and South Asia (SA). Perform reliable and accessible assessments of impacts of climate change on agriculture in SSA and SA. Evaluate potential priority adaptation strategies for sustainable production and economic viability in coordination with stakeholders within each region. Refine agricultural models for SSA and SA to address food security goals for these countries.
Project Methods
Science Coordination will ensure that the project¿s diverse partners, disciplinary teams, and parallel research tracks lead to cohesive, consistent, and timely deliverables of the highest possible scientific quality, provides oversight of programmatic operations, coordinating among activities for the South Asia and SubSaharan Africa projects. Provide the overall coordination leadership for the Phase 2 efforts to esnure workplan is fulfilled and objectives are achieved. Actvities to ensure coordination include: a. Provides oversight for, and contributes to, the collaborative completion of Work Packages and Products utilizing the Task Estimate timeframe. b. Coordinates among South Asia and SubSaharan Africa teams to ensure progress is being made on overall project goals. c. Supervises AgMIP International and Science Coordination Personnel at Columbia University. d. Convenes weekly teleconferences with other PIs and research team leaders to ensure that the direction and progress of the project are on track. e. Provides quarterly reports on project progress and financial status to USDA.
