Goals / Objectives
Computer programmer will rewrite the code for RootReader3D to improve its effectiveness, efficiency, and usability.
Project Methods
RootReader3D software program will be rewritten to: a) Reorganize the program by modules for the different processes the software carries out, in order to improve ease of use and make it easier to implement future upgrades. b) Blend and merge the best features of RootReader3D with those of another root system imaging and computation software package, GiaRoots (http://giaroots.biology.gatech.edu/). c) Improve the automation and throughput of RootReader3D. d) Improve the sensitivity of RootReader3D to handle thresholding and skeletonizing of fine roots.
