Goals / Objectives
To foster the collaboration between Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center (BHNRC) and the College of Sciences (COS), Old Dominion University (ODU) by pooling strengths and resources to help develop new knowledge and expertise and train next generation of agricultural scientists.
Project Methods
This NFCA formalizes and expands the long-time relationship between BHNRC and COS, ODU, which share an interest in research and education in nutrition, agriculture, and related fields as they relate to genomics, immunology/immunopotentiation, statistics, computer science and large database analysis, and chemical analysis and spectroscopy. The two institutions have different but complementary research expertise and facilities, and their geographic proximity makes it feasible for BHNRC scientists to participate in Cooperator graduate and undergraduate programs conducting collaborative research with faculty and students and for students to receive training in BHNRC labs. By pooling strengths and collaborating closely through this NFCA, ARS/BHNRC and Cooperator seek to build a leading center for agricultural, environmental, and natural resources research that will enhance training and research opportunities for BHNRC professional staff and researchers and Cooperator faculty and students.
