Goals / Objectives
1) Evaluate strobulurins, trazoles, and traditional fungicides and conbinations of fungicides for their activity against Aspergillus (A.) flavus and their effect on aflatoxin produciton. 2) Determine optimum rate and timing of application of Afla-Guard. 3) fungicide and Afla Guard interactions NOTE: All trials will be carried to yield and concentrations of aflatoxin will be determined from each plot. In addition, laboratory isolations will be made to determine the ratio of toxigenic and non-toxigenic Aspergillus flavus present from each plot and the potential interaction with fungicide products.
Project Methods
Evaluate the efficacy of Afla-Guard in at least five Mississippi Delta field sites, at three application rates and several application times, on side-by-side irrigated and non-irrigated corn. In laboratory and field trials the effect of fungicides on Aspergillus (A.) flavus will be measured.
