Goals / Objectives
Funds are in support of the "2010 Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Summer Research Conference" and to be used for the purpose of organizing a FASEB sponsored meeting focused on the latest developments in the field of calpain research.
Project Methods
This application requests funding for support of the 2010 Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Summer Research Conference to be held in Carefree, Arizona, July 25-30, 2010. Participants will include scientists conducting research on the calpain enzyme system. Attendees and presenters represent Federal agencies and universities from numerous countries. This conference features the latest research on the role of calpains in growth and development, meat quality, and various diseases.

Approach (from AD-416) This application requests funding for support of the 2010 Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Summer Research Conference to be held in Carefree, Arizona, July 25-30, 2010. Participants will include scientists conducting research on the calpain enzyme system. Attendees and presenters represent Federal agencies and universities from numerous countries. This conference features the latest research on the role of calpains in growth and development, meat quality, and various diseases. ARS contributions supporting the conference helped ensure a successful meeting. Many outstanding presentations were made describing the latest research results regarding the various roles that the calpain enzyme system has in regulating muscle growth and development, meat tenderness and muscle wasting diseases. The ADODR monitored the project with conference calls and email correspondence.
