Non Technical Summary
Only pheromone traps in Burnett, Travis and Bexar counties were monitored and no detections were made. A survey of the Corpus Christi, TX site during the spring of 2012 by a team from Sam Houston State University made numerous observations of adult brown marmorated stink bug adults near the initial detection site. From this observation, adult BMSB successfully over wintered and are established in the detection area. The Corpus Christi site is the only known positive detection location in Texas.

Goals / Objectives
Assess the extent and nature of injury caused brown marmorated stink bug. Develop monitoring methods for brown marmorated stink bug. Determine the potential for biological control of the brown marmorated stink bug. Determine the toxicity and field efficacy of selected insecticides for brown marmorated stink bug control in field crops, fruit, nursery and vegetables Develop best management practices for the brown marmorated stink bug. Deliver research based IPM recommendations to growers
Project Methods
A monitoring project was conducted during the falloff 2011 by placing yellow pyramid traps baited with brown marmorated stink bug pheromone in Travis, Bexar, Gillespie, Hill, Burnet and Dallas counties. A search of the only positive detection site (Corpus Christi, TX) in Texas was conducted in the Spring of 2012 for the presence of adults that survived overwintering. BMSB pheromone traps will be monitored again in the falloff 2012 in Travis and Bexar counties.

Outputs
Target Audience: A news release was made through the Texas A&M AgiLife Extenion Communications Department in Novemeber, 2012 to our website, AgriLife Today, and to a ListServ that includes more than 700 news organizations and other interested personnel, for the purpose of informing the general public of Texas that information on sightings of the brown marmorated stink bug were needed. The newsl release genrated "numerous" reports, all of which were negetive. An article was published in the "Pecan South" magazine (Vol. 45, No. 11, January 2013, p. 14) which is published by the Texas Pecan Growers Assocaition to inform pecan produers of Texas of the interest in detecting this invasive stink bug. Circulation of Pecan South is approximaely 4,000 and is distributed across, Texas, the US pecan belt and internationally. Changes/Problems: Nothing Reported What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? Nothing Reported How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? Nothing Reported What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? Nothing Reported

Impacts
What was accomplished under these goals? Collections of adult brown marmorated stink bugs were made on two separtae occasions, one in April 2013 from a vehicle that was moved from Virginia to Brazos county and a second collection from a U-Haul container that was moved fro PA to College Station, TX.

Progress 08/01/11 to 09/30/11

Outputs
Target Audience: Citizens of the state of Texas through a state wide news release provided by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Pecan Growers of Texas, producers across the US pecan belt, and international producers through a news article in the "Pecan South" magazine (Vol. 45, No. 1, January 2013, p. 14). Estimated circulation - 4,000 Pecan Growers of Texas and Texas County Extension Agents through the Texas Pecan IPM Newsletter, #13-2 Changes/Problems: Nothing Reported What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? Nothing Reported How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? Nothing Reported What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? Funds to support our work on informing the citizens of Texas and train first detectors are being sought from granting agencies.

Impacts
What was accomplished under these goals? With Texas having only one confirmed detection, with voucher specimens the major goal for Texas was to create awarness amoung the citizens, business and agricultural producers (pecans) of the state of the potential impact of the invasive stink bug and the desire to find new infestation sites.
