Non Technical Summary
This conference is structured to provide information about a broad range of topics related to poultry genomics. Topics to be covered include bioinformatics resource development, disease resistance, reproduction, nutrient utilization, feed efficiency, growth, development, neurology, physiology, and quantitative genetics. The workshop consists of 16-18 station reports in 15-20 minutes, and 4 invited presentations for 30 minutes. Researchers from different land-grant universities and USDA ARS will give station reports. Invited speakers will be national or international researchers with active research programs in poultry fertility and/or disease resistance. Speakers will be selected to provide both an overview of a topic and cutting edge information from their research. In addition to oral presentations, the co-chairs will select eight graduate, undergraduate students, or postdoctoral research associates for support, based on the merit and quality of their poster abstracts

Goals / Objectives
The goals of the conference are to bring together individuals who are interested in different areas of developing and utilizing poultry genome resource and tools. A uniqueness of this conference is that it is always held jointly with other Multi-State Research Projects in the area of genetics (i.e, cattle, swine, sheep, aquaculture). A major strength of the joint meeting is its multi-species and comparative biology basis. Because similar technologies are employed in these different species, and shared status in genome analyses, agricultural researchers can learn and share new technologies, tools and recent research findings, among species.
Project Methods
The proposed conferences will be held in San Diego, California jointly with Plant & Animal Genome Conference in January, 2013 and January, 2014. Due to high volume of attendees (recently, over 3000) in this conference and extreme coordination efforts, the conference has been held in San Diego since 1991.
