What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? This project provided funds to attend the Pesticide Applicator and Certification Training Workshop to be held August 5-8 in Minneapolis, MN, which will help to increase my knowledge of what types of programming are being done in other states as well as ideas for new programs. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? Educational materials and manuals are distributed through the Communications Department. Information about recertification training and exams are posted on the program website as well as the Kansas Department of Agriculture website. Mailing lists are obtained from the Kansas Department of Agriculture and training flyers are mailed to each applicator on the list. Information is also disseminated to the local county extension agents to distribute to their commercial applicators and private applicators. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals?

Impacts What was accomplished under these goals?
The pesticide safety education program trained 901 commercial applicators and 1,055 private applicators to receive the initial certification by testing. An additional 1,329 commercial applicators and 1,277 private applicators were recertified either through training or re-testing. Recertification training programs were conducted on October 30-31 in Hutchinson, Kansas, November 8 in Pratt, Kansas, and November 13 in Manhattan for the various categories. The Ag Wildlife manual was updated to reflect current laws and regulations and changes in control measures. The new version is now available to the commercial applicators in the state. The program also has three other manuals that are in various stages of being updated or rewritten. Information has been assembled on the requirements for obtaining a pesticide license, but we have not decided whether to actually print copies or just make it available on the website. The program continues to evaluate the current programs and adjust them based on the participants comments etc.
