Project Methods
The following describes the process CFSPH will follow to prepare the materials for release. Major Updates-The process for CFSPH to update and prepare 4 web-based modules and print manuals originally developed between 2003 and 2007 for NVAP involves the following: 1) Converting web-based text and supplemental materials to a Microsoft Word document for editing and subsequent LPA review; 2) Updating all web graphics to print quality images; 3) Reviewing the content for each web-based topic; 4) Researching changes in legislation, regulations, disease etiology, diagnostics, new disease outbreaks, public health consequences; 5) Incorporating edits and new content into each topic's Word document; 6) Providing each updated topic print document (electronically) to APHIS-approved subject matter expert(s) for review; 7) APHIS-approved subject matter expert(s) will provide CFSPH feedback (electronically) using track changes in Microsoft Word within 14 days of receiving the content; 8) Incorporating edits/comments into each topic's document; 9) Incorporating finalized graphics into each topic's document; 10) Providing each updated topic print document (electronically) to the NVAP Staff or their designees for review no later than 60 days prior to the Release Date in the table above; 11) NVAP Staff or their designees will provide CFSPH feedback (electronically) using track changes in Microsoft Word within 30 days of receiving the print content; 12) Incorporating edits/comments into each topic's document; 13) Finalizing graphics in each print manual and web-based module. Minor Updates - The process for CFSPH to update 5 web-based modules and print manuals developed in 2007 for NVAP involves the following: 1) Reviewing the content for each web-based topic; 2) Researching changes in legislation, regulations, disease etiology, diagnostics, new disease outbreaks, public health consequences; 3) Incorporating edits and new content into each topic's Word document; 4) Contacting APHIS-approved subject matter expert(s) with specific questions to ensure correct interpretation of any regulation/disease/diagnostic changes; 5) Incorporating finalized graphics into each topic's document; 6) Providing each updated topic print document (electronically) to the NVAP Staff or their designees for review no later than 60 days prior to release on the ITW; 7) NVAP Staff or their designees will provide CFSPH feedback (electronically) using track changes in Microsoft Word within 30 days of receiving the print content; 8) Incorporating edits/comments into each topic's document; 9) Finalizing graphics in each print manual and web-based module; 10) Developing PowerPoint Presentations with Speaker Notes. All 9 modules listed above, plus one additional topic (Farm Animal Welfare - content developed by Michigan State University in 2011) will have a corresponding Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT) presentation that reviews the same content as presented in web and print formats.
