Goals / Objectives
Objectives 1.Forge links and stimulate new areas of multidisciplinary research among countries where disparities are increasing in childhood obesity, chronic diseases, food/nutrition insecurity and global crisis 2.Generate knowledge, which will impact future policy, community, research and education decisions relating to disparities in childhood obesity, chronic diseases, food/nutrition insecurity and global crisis 3.Engage and interact with a range of relevant scientific disciplines to promote mechanisms, guidelines and processes for ensuring the importance and effectiveness of an integrated food and nutrition policy in the face of global disparities. 4.Create new consensus, publicize opportunities for new research, and provide sustainable approaches for combating disparities in childhood obesity, chronic diseases, food/nutrition insecurity and global crisis; and 5.Build capacity among scientists focusing on food, nutrition and related sciences, disparities in childhood obesity, chronic diseases, food/nutrition insecurity and environmental, climatic and economic crisis. Expected Outputs This meeting will result in the development of international networks to approach combating disparities in childhood obesity, chronic diseases, food/nutrition insecurity and environmental, climatic, and economic crisis by publicizing opportunities for research, building capacity amongst scientists, and generating and providing knowledge to impact future policy, Participants will come from various disciplines and backgrounds, therefore, at the end of the conference, it is envisaged that policymakers and other participants will meet a common ground, and collaborative partnerships will be developed, which will move towards stronger national and international food and agricultural systems. Additionally, participants will take information back to academia, communities, policy makers and farms, and it is envisioned that aspects of these will be used to enhance communities and society as a whole. The conference will also strengthen capacity among members of society including students and scientists who will be trained; and it will clarify the linkages among food production systems, food and nutrition insecurity and climate change
