Goals / Objectives
1. Compare reduced-risk, IPM and conventional management strategies on the putting greens of the Green Course at Bethpage State Park. 2. Introduce reduced risk approaches to the tees and fairways. 3. Publish an operations manual for reduced chemical management for public golf courses in northern climates.
Project Methods
To accomplish these goals, we will: 1. Visit Bethpage on a regular basis to make site assessments and consult with Bethpage staff. 2. Continue the experiment on the Green Course, comparing conventional, IPM and reduced-risk approaches 3. Collect and analyze field data 4. Provide recommendations for reduced-risk practices and products on the Blue and Yellow Courses 5. Analyze potential products and practices according to the "Environmental Impact Quotient" (EIQ) 6. Have a golf management assistant visit most NYS Golf Courses in 2009 to consult on the practices currently being used and how reduced-risk strategies could be incorporated.
