What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? Hot Topics on the web site offered research-based information on a variety of issues facing vulnerable populations. All Hot Topics were archived on CYFERnet. Hot Topics during 2013 included. 1. It’s National Nutrition Month: Did You Eat a Rainbow Today? 2. Mental Health and Violence 3. Ten Reasons Grandparents Matter More Than Ever In partnership with nationally recognized Extension faculty, the CYFERnet Program Team offered 12 webinars. Webinar topics included: Building Trust with Latino Stakeholders Bullying Resources for Afterschool Programs Connecting Children to Science and Nature Creating Spaces to Enhance Intergenerational Relationships Distracted Driving Don’t Stress: Enjoy the Holidays and Every Other Time Getting Our Hearts Right: Three Keys to Better Relationships Grandparents Raising Grandchildren: The Role of Grandparents in the Lives of Youth Prescription Drugs STEM in Afterschool Settings Teen Pregnancy and Sex Education in the Bible Belt: Implications for Effective Programming The Brilliance of Small Wins in Community These webinars were archived on the cyfernet.org web site. To promote the use of CYFERnet and strengthen the capacity of frontline CYFAR staff and volunteers to work with vulnerable populations, the CYFERnet Program Team and editorial boards conducted 11 workshops and conference presentations with nearly 510 participants throughout the country. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? Dissemination through the website CYFERnet was the objective of this program. Appropriate materials were posted on the site and webinars and hot topics were archived on the site. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals?

Impacts What was accomplished under these goals?
In 2013, there were 815,000 searches/browses of CYFERnet (www.cyfernet.org). Early childhood and parent/family topics were the top content areas searched/browsed. There were 49,000 different users (based on IP addresses). At the conclusion of the year, there were over 9,517 resources addressing the needs of vulnerable populations listed on CYFERnet. One major new resource added to the web site was the Evidence Based Guidebook developed through a federal interagency partnership. The CYFERnet Program Team and editorial boards provided technical assistance and resources to CYFAR projects, Extension faculty and staff, as well as external users through a variety of media and strategies. The CYFERnet Program Team and editorial boards collaborated nationally on a number of efforts to strengthen programming for vulnerable audiences. These collaborations include: Early Childhood – eXtension Alliance for Better Child Care School Age- Youth Science, Engineering and Technology Teen- eXtension Evaluation Community of Practice and Nevada eXtension Institutional Team Parent/Family-eXtension Military Families Learning Network; Family Caregiving; and Financial Security for All; Operation: Military Kids, the National Agricultural Library Collaborations with 4-H Youth Development include: 4-H Military Liaisons 4-H Afterschool National 4-H Science, Engineering and Technology Evaluation Team National 4-H Council Collaborations with the Military Extension Partnerships: Involvement with 4-H Military Liaisons and Operation: Military Kids grants Participation in eXtension Military Families Learning Network and Military Families Child Care Initiative Work on grants such as Military-Extension Adventure Camp Initiative and Military Child Care Training and Technical Assistance Presently the CYFERnet website is undergoing a major change. At the end of December 2013 all the materials were updated and there were no broken links.

What opportunities for training and professional development has the project provided? Provided the materials and personnel to conduct two national workshops on CYFAR Building Capacity. Developed and postedtwelve hot topics on critical/relevant topics. Developed, presented and posted ten webinars. How have the results been disseminated to communities of interest? Contributed to the CYFAR Annual Report. What do you plan to do during the next reporting period to accomplish the goals? Contribute to the CYFAR Annual Report if asked. Provide pertinent information to the new CYFAR PD&TA team.
Impacts What was accomplished under these goals?
In 2012, there were more than 1 million searches/browses to CYFERnet www.cyfernet.org. A total of 1,852 resources were peer reviewed and 1,590 accepted and posted for an acceptance rate of 86%. Currently, there are over 8,900 resources addressing the needs of vulnerable populations listed on CYFERnet. Over 1,450 individuals participated in webinars provided by CYFERnet-Program saving both training and travel costs for these individuals that could amount to thousands or millions of dollars. Fostered collaborations with eXtension, 4-H/Youth Development and Military Extension Partnerships. The CYFERnet Program team and editorial boards provided technical assistance and resources to CYFAR projects, Extension faculty and staff, as well as external users through a variety of media and strategies. Capacity building efforts focused on development of the CYFAR Core Competencies. This section of CYFERnet www1.cyfernet.org/ccc.html provides a set of professional development tools designed to assist CYFAR front-line staff and their supervisors develop individualized training plans and monitor progress.

Outputs OUTPUTS: The CYFERnet Program team and editorial boards provided technical assistance and resources to CYFAR projects and other users through a variety of strategies. Nearly 1,000 resources were peer reviewed and 895 accepted and posted for an acceptance rate of 89.7%. Over 430 military-related resources peer-reviewed and posted on CYFERnet Hot Topics offered research-based information on a variety of issues facing vulnerable populations. Topics included School Retention and Dropout Prevention; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues Related to Suicide and Bullying Prevention; Talking to Children about War, Terrorism and Difficult Topics; Family Budget Stress; and Healthy Eating: Community Gardens and Food Science. All Hot Topics are archived on CYFERnet at: http://www.cyfernet.org/pagelist.phpc=1441 In partnership with nationally recognized Extension faculty, the CYFERnet-Program team offered ten webinars. Over 900 individuals participated in webinars. Webinar topics included: Healthy Air + Healthy Spaces = Healthy Children; Living a More Balanced Life; Food Insecurity and Children Living in Immigrant Families; Pathways to Latino Student Success: Programs and Practices that make a Difference; and Let's Move Faith and Communities: America's Move to Raise a Healthier Generation of Kids. Outputs OUTPUTS: More than 40 webinars, conference workshops, exhibits, and other presentations were offered by the CYFERnet-Program team in partnership with nationally recognized Extension professionals. Examples of 2010 webinar topics were: Building Family, School and Community Connections for Greater Program Intensity and Managing Stress: Turning Challenges into Choices. Webinars are archived on CYFERnet. See: http://www.cyfernet.org/pagelist.phpc=1423. Continued development of collaborations by CYFERnet-Program included: 1) eXtension: involvement of editors and board members with Communities of Practice, university eXtension institutional teams, review and posting of resources in preparation for the Bullying: What We Know Now webinar, development of an eXtension Moodle on CYFERnet. 2) 4-H Youth Development: collaborative work with 4-H Afterschool, 4-H Military Liaisons, 4-H National Curriculum Directory, 4-H SET Evaluation Design Team, and 4-H Learning Community Project to partner on shared goals and incorporate these into an overall strategic plan for CYFERnet. Impacts 941 new resources were peer reviewed, 757 were posted for an acceptance rate of 80.4%. Currently, there are over 7,700 resources in the database. There were nearly 800,000 hits to the web site and more than 63,527 different users in 2010. Over 300 people participated in webinars and over 3,000 people participated in presentations/workshops.

Outputs OUTPUTS: Since September 2009 - March 2010, 1. Reviewed 805 new materials. Accepted and posted 650 new items on CYFERnet. 2. Created nine Hot Topics Links 3. Facilitated seven on-line trainings 4. Conducted CYFAR 2010 preconference PARTICIPANTS: There are approximately 35 board members from 20 states and Puerto Rico. Seven webinars were offered (more than 500 participants) by nationally recognized professionals. TARGET AUDIENCES: There were 1,209,318 hits on the CYFERnet website and 75,926 separate users. PROJECT MODIFICATIONS: Nothing significant to report during this reporting period.

Over 500 people across the nation received on-line training saving the system on average of $500,000 in travel dollars ($1000 per participant). 4. Developed collaborations with National 4-H; eXtension; 4-H military; 4-H Science, Engineering, and Technology evaluation team, 4-H After School and National 4-H Curriculum jury review. 5. More than 40 participants increased their facilitation skills by attending the CYFAR 2010 preconference.
