Goals / Objectives
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Multicultural Scholars Program is designed to provide diverse multicultural students to advance their educational achievement by obtaining a degree in food and agricultural sciences, preparing them to enter the scientific and professional workforce in the food and agricultural industry or to continue their education in a graduate program in the food and agricultural industry. The project will emphasize recruitment of diverse multicultural students and establishing partnerships with business and industry.
Project Methods
Multicultural students will be recruited from across the nation, particularly in the ProStart programs in Nebraska - a secondary program in Nebraska offering food service management and culinary arts. Once admitted to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, they would select a major in either Animal Science/Animal Products Option in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources or the Nutrition and Health Sciences Major/Culinary Science Option in the College of Education and Human Sciences. MSP students would participate in UNL's Summer Institute for Promising Scholars, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) Dean's Scholars in Experiential Leadership Program, be a member of MANRRS - Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences, develop a four-year college plan with their academic adviser, be paired with an industry representative, enroll in the Employment Seminar and participate in CASNR's Ensuring Your Future Program.

Outputs
OUTPUTS: Our success with the grant was evident, the students selected had a 2.807 average GPA while I student received a 3.547 GPA for their final semester. I had constant contact with our MSP scholars with a weekly email. I informed them of the meetings, events for the week and also deadlines for scholarships, important dates and other items that are of interest to them. All of our MSP scholars were very busy; they are involved on campus and keep a hectic schedule. They all have maneuvered through the University System on their own and don't need my assistance as often and that is the goal of our program. PARTICIPANTS: Nothing significant to report during this reporting period. TARGET AUDIENCES: Our target audience was high school students who were interested in attending the University of Nebraska - Lincoln PROJECT MODIFICATIONS: Nothing significant to report during this reporting period.

Impacts
The MSP Scholars have had a very successful first semester at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Jared stated: The MSP Program has allowed me to save money that can be used for future use when I continue my education in a Master's Program. It allows me to cut down on tuition costs and allows me to use money that I was going to use on tuition for schooling down the road. This program has benefited me greatly and I am glad to be apart of it.
