Non Technical Summary
Spirit Lake Dakota people greatly are needed to make agricultural use of the lands that increasingly are becoming available. Presently, there is little agricultural use of the lands, and there are very few Spirit Lake Dakota who have the agricultural training to use their lands productively. The purpose of this project is to start providing the basic training and education needed by the Spirit Lake Dakota people to make agricultural use of their lands.

Goals / Objectives
The objective of this project is to recruit students into agricultural and natural resource management and to improve the retention rate of the students in these programs.
Project Methods
The basic approach will involve recruitment presentations to students at local high schools, tracking and assessment of students in the natural resource management and agricultural programs enrolled at Candeska Cikana Community College, the exploration of college student experential learning opportunities, and the inclusion of Lakota Culture in the natural resource management and agricultural programs.
