Non Technical Summary
Winter use in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks remains a serious issue for West Yellowstone. With the continual changes in snowmobile use in the parks, it is apparent that the snowcoach will be an integral part of any future winter visitation mix. It is a diverse target about whom very little analysis has been conducted. Knowing this, West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce is interested in understanding who the snowcoach visitor is, why they are visiting, and what encouraged them to take a snowcoach trip.

Goals / Objectives
This study will create a profile of the West Yellowstone snowcoach passenger by surveying their a) demographic data including age, residences, occupation, income, and gender, b) interests and activities, and c) tripographics such as length of stay in area, activities participated in while in the area, information sources used for booking the snowcoach trip, overnight accommodations, and their snowcoach trip experience.
Project Methods
Snowcoach riders from West Yellowstone will be asked to complete a questionnaire in the last five minutes of their trip back to West Yellowstone. The snowcoach driver will inform the passengers that a short 3-5 minute survey will be given to everyone over the age of 18. Upon completion of the questionnaire, the driver will collect the surveys and place them in a manila envelope for confidentiality. A minimum of 400 questionnaires will be distributed between December 25, 2004 and March 7, 2005. The questionnaires will be distributed equally among the participating snowcoach companies.
