Turtle Mountain Community College will develop a GIS/GPS teaching laboratory applicable to the environmental and rural health needs in its area and utilize data associated with a straw house to teach alternative energy education. This project at Turtle Mountain Community College (TMCC) will focus on strengthening its present teaching components in the agricultural sciences and develop special emphasis areas in GIS/GPS and alternative energy. Overall, educational training in these areas will make the agricultural graduates of TMCC more competitive in the agricultural work force.

Goals / Objectives

Project Methods
The GIS/GPS special emphasis area at Turtle Mountain Community College will include the development of a GIS/GPS teaching laboratory and a GIS/GPS curriculum in partnership with the academic program at TMCC the Tribal Natural Resources Department, and the Indian Health Service. Alternative Energy education will include the building of a straw house and relate features of the straw house to energy conservation and renewable energy.
