Outputs The North Central Regional Aquaculture Center (NCRAC) and fiscal responsibility for its operation are located at Michigan State University. The office of NCRAC's director worked with the office of NCRAC's associate director at Iowa State University to develop and administer programs approved by NCRAC's Board of Directors. Activities revolved around administration of six regional projects: Publications/Extension, 2 Extension (Regional Aquaculture Extension Facilitator and a 'Base' Extension project), Economics/Marketing (Survey for a Regional Co-op and Marketing, Nutrition, and Aquaculture Drugs (17α-methyltestosterone). Eightteen aquaculture research and extension specialists in sixteen regional universities were involved in this work. Research and extension publications were issued by scientists who were under contract with NCRAC to conduct work on projects. These publications were coordinated by the associate director at Iowa State University in accordance with
guidelines established by USDA's National Coordinating Council for Aquaculture.
Impacts The various extension and research activities funded by the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center over the period of this project have generated new technologies and publications that have been of benefit to the aquaculture industry, either by increasing production, decreasing costs, or by providing information that has led to more knowledgeable decisions.
