Non Technical Summary
Rural Oklahoma's need for large animal veterinary professionals has been increasing exponentially with a rise in livestock veterinarian retirement and a decrease in new veterinarians entering the field of large animal services. This has left producer's vulnerable to herd health emergencies as well as left a void where regular veterinary care and consultation has been available. Often times veterinarians that may still agree to see large animals have haul in only policies and do not offer after hours services to their clients. Lawson Veterinary Services INC plans to address this need by expanding their already existing large animal mobile practice that spans over numerous counties in rural Oklahoma and offers high quality care to livestock producers. If Lawson Veterinary Services INC isawarded the funds requested from the VSGP we could offer a greater array of higher quality services to clients and also be better equipped with adequate staff and restraining equipment. This would not only provide a better standard of care, but also be able to reach a clientelle who would benefit from a more thorough understanding of their animal's health or be able to process their animals more safely. The mission of Lawson Veterinary Services INC is help the rural producers of Oklahoma by helping their animals to be as healthy as possible and live up to their greatest potential. We strive to make the producer a priority and will be better equipped to do so if we were awarded the funds offered by the VSGP.
