Non Technical Summary
There are notenough large animal veterinarians to serve the local farms and food animal population in the shortage area ofClark County and all the surrounding counties. This shortfallputs a burden on existing equipment and facilities by having a large number of farms needing to be serviced.Our goal is to continue to provide quality veterinary services to the food animal clients in our shortage area and improve our efforts of recruiting and retaining quality veterinarians to serve the area long into the future.This project would allow needed equipment to provide theseservices in a safer, more efficient, and productiveway in the shortage area.The entire project would have asignificant impact toensure the safety of our food animal supply, as veterinarians are the first line of defense against foreign animal diseases and identificationoffood animal diseases that could spread to people.These services willhelpprotect and sustain the agricultural economy of Kentucky and the nation.Farmers and producers will be better served with experienced veterinary care and services with dependable modernized equipment.

Goals: Continue to provide quality veterinary services to the food animal clients in our shortage area and improve our efforts of recruiting and retaining quality mixed animal practice veterinariansfor contiuned success of our clinic in the future.Objectives:1. Maintain dependable farm transportation with a new veterinary truck2.Improve and upgradeour cattle haul-in facility (gates, panels, tub, chute)3.Hydraulic cattle foot trimming tilt table
Project Methods
The project will be conducted with six large animal veterinarians providing food animal services at the Boonesboro Animal Clinic and on farm locations within our shortage area.We can utilize our office computer software to examine theimpact of progress and expansion thatthe upgraded facilities would have on our cattle haul-in facility, including a hydraulic trimming foot tilt table and mobile farm calls.
