Non Technical Summary
The majority of goats with naturally acquired CAEV infections do not demonstrate disease (arthritis) and relatively few goats demonstrate neurological disease. The reason(s) for this are poorly understood but may relate to: 1. host genetics, 2. viral genetics, 3. environmental factors. We are testing the second hypothesis.

Goals / Objectives
Determine if CAEV promoter sequences are associated with disease outcome in goats with neurological CAEV.
Project Methods
Identify clinical cases in the UC Davis and CAHFS databasesIsolate DNA, PCR amplify the CAEV promoterClone and sequenceCompare sequences to prior data
