Non Technical Summary
The proposed project aims to address persistent gender and sex disparities in healthcare and health outcomes in the United States. Despite women constituting over half of the population and a significant portion of the healthcare workforce, they continue to face inequities in care, underrepresentation in health research, and higher rates of maternal morbidity and mortality. The project will convene a 2-day symposium to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among women's health researchers, clinicians, and community members. The symposium will center the voices of historically marginalized women, integrating biomedical research with sociological frameworks to address systemic oppression in healthcare. Sessions will focus on understanding barriers to research and treatment, promoting innovative strategies, and forming action teams to advance health equity post-symposium. Objectives include facilitating dialogue and collaboration among leaders in women's health, amplifying the voices of women at the intersections of race, class, sexuality, and health, and developing a new framework for power-sharing in healthcare research. The expected outcomes are to accelerate research on women's health disparities, shift biomedical research and clinical practices to better address women's needs, and cultivate social and political power among women. The symposium will identify policies, research projects, and programs for implementation, aiming to create actionable change and improve health outcomes for women. This project is critical in developing a strategic vision and framework to guide women's health research through an intersectional feminist lens.

Goals / Objectives
Facilitate dialogue and collaboration among leaders in women's health.Amplify the voices of women at the intersections of race, class, sexuality, and health.Develop a new framework for power-sharing in healthcare research.Discuss the integration of food and nutrition research into women's health.
Project Methods
Leaders in women's health will be invited through email to participate in this conference. Each committee member will invite 20-30 people from within their network and external to their networks to participate and request additional names from invitees to ensure greater reach. Invitations will span multiple disciplines (i.e. gynecology, oncology, nutrition, public health, social work, economics, etc.). Committee members will focus on engaging with legislative representatives at the local, state, and federal level. Additionally, invitations will be extended to leaders in the insurance industry, large healthcare systems, and regional food policy councils.Working with collaborating investigators a 2-day symposium will be convened to bring women's health researchers, clinicians, and community members together to discuss challenges and opportunities in addressing gender health disparities. The aim of the symposium is to first and foremost center the voices of women, who have been historically marginalized and denied bodily autonomy through storytelling and artistic expression. The symposium will integrate biomedical research with sociological frameworks for understanding and change. Sessions will work to provide sociocultural and historical perspectives on barriers to research and treatment to aid in disrupting and dismantling current oppressive structures. Space will be created for networking, developing innovative strategies, and forming action teams to continue the work post-symposium.
