The SEEDS Scholars: Awareness, Preparation, and Training Program provides the initial steps for undergraduate students to pursue a food and agricultural career in the public, non-profit, and private sectors. Experiential learning--including activities from informational interviews to paid internships--with USDA partners, farmers, social justice organizations, academic researchers, and garden educators will expose community college students to potential careers in the FANH disciplines. Mentoring and career readiness workshops will provide student participants with the requisite skills to pursue FANH careers.

Goals / Objectives
The major goals of this project are to:Increase Latinx students' awareness of FANH careers with a special emphasis on mission critical occupations.Prepare Latinx students for FANH careers through workshops, job shadowing, informational interviews, and field trips with FANH employers.Provide Latinx students with paid internships and mentoring in the FANH careers.
Project Methods
Efforts include a career readiness work experience course, and internship placements, job shadowing experiences, informational interviews, and field trips with FANH employers.Evaluation methods include a pretest-posttest survey instrument to be administered to participants at the beginning and end of each semester; workshop and field trip evaluations administered to participants after each event; mentoring program evaluations administered to participants at the end of each semester; and focus groups and interviews conducted annually by the external evaluator.
