Non Technical Summary
There is a nationwideshortage of food animal veterinarians in the United States. This shortage endangers the livelyhood of our producers, the local and national economy and the food we eat. This is particularly dangerous given the ever increasing spread of foreign animal diseases that could stop our food producing economy and endanger the animal welfare of millions of food producing animals. By fundingthe start upof a complete mobile veterinary services we can keep costs down and better meet our clients needs in the pasture and increase security of our food sources. Ourgoal for these funds at Crescent Veterinary Hospital are to establish a complete mobile veterinary service with the purchase of a service truck, veterinary clinic box and mobile chute. With this new equipment,we will increase our mobile practice over the 3 year grant period 10 fold and continue utilizing this equipement for the next decade and possibly beyond. This will result in a more secure food chain, increased animal welfare and a more secure local and national agricultural economy.
