Non Technical Summary
The need for high quality, searchable produce safety stock images and video footage for outreach, education and training continues to be a significant issue for educators nationwide who wish to create impactful presentations in which the farmer participants see themselves represented. The PIs will build an inclusive image library as part of the Northeast Center to Advance Food Safety's Food Safety Resource Clearinghouse with images and footage crowd-sourced from the produce safety community that reflect diverse communities and farm sizes and types. At least 300 tagged images and 50 video clips will be added to the library per year of the project. To facilitate the development of the image library, the PIs will convene an advisory committee of stakeholders drawn from 1862, 1890, and 1994 Land Grant institutions, nonprofits that serve underserved farmers, and partners from Departments of Agriculture. The advisory committee will develop priorities for media acquisition and key sorting criteria, around which the media library will be built. Upon completion, the platform built will allow for crowd-sourced media to be submitted, along with photo releases so that media can be widely used. ADA-compliant alternative text will be created to increase accessibility to the media library. The PIs will also develop interpretive teaching resources for a small subset of images. Michigan State University Extension Tuskegee University, and the University of Vermont are particularly well-suited to conduct this project, as these institutions have a history of successful digital media creation and experience working with underserved populations. Without this project and its funds, the need for a high-quality public media library of searchable produce safety images and footage will likely go unmet.

Goals / Objectives
GoalsTo create a searchable image database with an average of 300 tagged images and 50 short film clips per year with ADA compliant alternative text with an eye to maintaining media attribution and photo releases. ADA compliance ensures that, in situations where either a screen reader is employed or alternative text is enabled, a text description of the media will either be displayed or read to the viewer. In many media libraries, obtaining this information may not be straightforward. The goal with each image in the library is to make the use of such additions like alternative text and attributions simple. To create a mechanism for images and film clips to be submitted by users and provide some incentive to user generated content. The database will be two-way allowing users to either search content or submit it. The Advisory Committee members will be provided remuneration in the event they would like to contribute. To curate a small subset of images with interpretive language suitable for use in national trainings. The language will not only outline what is being shown in the images, but also possible multiple interpretations of what conclusions could be drawn about the image. To evaluate the program using formative assessment, process evaluation, and post implementation impact assessment. Assessment tools will be integrated into the process to better understand user statistics and improve user experience
Project Methods
The project will begin by convening a group of at least 3 stakeholders across the country to offer guidance throughout the duration of the project. They will determine critical concepts to be included in the library that will later inform the specific search tags required to create the framework of the library in addition to the existing Clearinghouse taxonomy of "topics." They will also evaluate the success of the project through annual interviews.Using information gathered from the stakeholders, the PI will work with Tamarack Media to create a framework that will be part of the National Food Safety Clearinghouse website. The framework will be a searchable platform that will allow individuals to submit images and short film clips and download them as well. The media will be taggable by either the submitter or the moderators and searchable. After the framework is created, The PI will work with the stakeholders to gather images to populate the library. At regular intervals, the stakeholders will review the progress and provide feedback to improve the final product. After half the minimum number of images and film clips are deposited into the library, the PIs will begin to publicize the library.
