Non Technical Summary
Wholistically addressing farm stress in a systematicmanner requires the use of multiple methods, approaches, and interventions. The relatively nascent nature offarm stress remediation attempts demands careful and purposeful pilot testing, demonstration of effectiveness, and measurement of quality and return on investment. Farmers and ranchers are too hardworking to use their limited time engaging in one-off programs that may (or may not) provide immediate and sustained results. The agriculture community seeks solutions cutting straight to the root cause. The projects included in this proposal aim to do just that. Efforts included herein center around broadening and deeping our understanding of how farm stress affects variousaudiences, and what can be done to effectively manage or reduce the inciting factors.Examining issues related to farm workers, heirs' property, succession planning, and general mental health education will enable the southern region to craft interventions that not only reduce stigma over time, but also increase mitigating resource availability and access. The fourteen projects, and others engaged through our "open call", will become official "SAgE" partners engaged in a truenetwork of collaborators sharing the same aim of supporting farmers and ranchers.
